ISLAMABAD: In response to the “unpredictable” security situation in Pakistan, the Canadian government has issued a travel advisory for its citizens, aiming to ensure their safety in the South Asian nation.
Media reports quoting diplomatic sources in Islamabad, said that the advisory emphasizes exercising extreme caution, avoiding unnecessary travel, and steering clear of border areas.
The Canadian High Commission in Pakistan specifically advises against travel within 50 kilometers of the Afghanistan border and within 10 kilometers of the borders with China, India, and Iran. Additionally, it urges Canadian citizens to refrain from non-essential travel to Karachi, citing the threat of violence and terrorism in the city.
To enhance safety, the advisory recommends avoiding areas with demonstrations or large gatherings, staying vigilant in public places, and carrying photo identification at all times. Canadians are also encouraged to be flexible with travel plans, stay informed through local media, and follow the guidance of local authorities.
This advisory is timely, coinciding with a notable increase in terror incidents, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
