The caretaker federal government in Islamabad has asserted that all Baloch children and women, detained following a clash with the police during a protest near the National Press Club, have been released.
Caretaker Privatisation Minister Fawad Hasan Fawad stated in a press conference that the protesters had peacefully demonstrated for 23 days, demanding the recovery of missing persons in Balochistan.
The prime minister formed a committee to negotiate with the protesters and address the issue, with recommendations expected soon.
Fawad Hasan alleged that individuals, concealing their faces, aimed to escalate the situation by pelting stones at the police.
To maintain law and order, the police took measures, releasing individuals from Balochistan immediately upon identification. Those named in the FIR are under investigation, and the government will provide updates on their status.
Highlighting the right to peaceful protest, Fawad Hasan emphasized adherence to rules and laws. The Islamabad administration and police had been ensuring security for the protesters until the incident.
Former Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch urged the caretaker prime minister to find a resolution.
Earlier, the Islamabad police used tear gas and batons to disperse Baloch protesters, arresting many, including Mahrang Baloch, leading a long march for the recovery of missing persons.
The protesters demand an end to human rights violations, release of political prisoners, and justice for extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
