Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has established a high-level committee, led by Federal Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar, to oversee security measures for the upcoming February 8 elections.
Comprising key officials, including the Ministry of Interior’s secretary and chief secretaries of all provinces, the committee’s formation responds to heightened concerns from political figures regarding the law and order situation.
Recent incidents of violence during election campaigns have raised security apprehensions, prompting demands for increased protection and calls for potential election delays.
The government, aiming to ensure security, plans to deploy thousands of security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of the polls.
