In a decisive address at the interior ministry, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar issued an unequivocal warning to terrorist groups in Pakistan, urging them to make an “unconditional surrender.”
He emphasized that the state would not engage in negotiations with terrorists, asserting a firm stance against those who commit violence and harm innocent citizens.
PM Kakar highlighted that the state would not tolerate individuals taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that only the legitimate armed power of the state’s security forces had the authority.
He expressed clarity across all organs of the state in persistently opposing militancy.
Addressing the families of martyrs, the prime minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by heroes from various sections of society, including police, politicians, journalists, soldiers, and even children.
He stressed the responsibility of society to honor martyrs with a distinguished status, noting that while the reward for martyrs’ souls rests with Allah, society must recognize and honor their invaluable sacrifices.
Reflecting on the surge in terrorism over the past year, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, PM Kakar recognized the challenges posed to security, with concerns raised about the upcoming general elections.
He paid tribute to the martyrs and underscored the societal responsibility to denounce terrorism, urging those willing to do so to seek forgiveness from the families of the victims.
Additionally, the prime minister highlighted the recent spike in militant activities, as indicated by data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.
He noted the precision of Pakistani security forces in responding to the surge, eliminating militants and apprehending suspects, while emphasizing the need to mitigate past damages caused by leniency toward militants.
