ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has finally proposed names of Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani for the post of caretaker prime minister.
According to media reports, Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah apprised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi about these names.
The reports said that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari via telephone calls has informed Ashraf and Jilani of the party’s decision.
During his telephonic talks with Ashraf and Jilani, Asif Ali Zardari told them that they had been selected on the basis of their hard work and honesty.
Zaka Ashraf is the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. He has also served as the adviser to chief minister Sindh from 1988-1990.
Jilani has a foreign service background having served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States and as country’s Foreign Secretary.
It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed are all set to meet tomorrow to hold consultations on the names for the slot of caretaker prime minister.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Information in a media talk earlier had said that name of the caretaker prime minister would be finalized by Tuesday.
