Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who serves as both Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has vowed to counter what he described as hostile efforts aimed at blocking progress in Balochistan. The statement was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
The remarks came during a meeting between the army chief and a gathering of tribal notables and political figures from the province. As per the ISPR statement, Munir emphasized that Balochistan’s future is permanently linked with that of Pakistan as a whole.
CDF Munir described the people of Balochistan as talented, resilient and deeply patriotic. He noted that lasting peace, paired with a unified national narrative, is essential for the province to realize its full economic promise, draw in investors, and convert its rich resources, both human and natural, into real prosperity for residents.
Youth Central to Balochistan’s Progress, Says Munir
The field marshal pointed out that Balochistan’s young population is full of ability and opportunity, calling them among the most dynamic groups in the country. He added that giving youth a genuine stake in national development remains a cornerstone of any sustainable growth strategy for the region.
Munir also named Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan as externally backed proxies working to destabilize the province, hinder Balochistan’s development, and drive a wedge between the government and local communities. He affirmed that these schemes would be met with firm, united resistance from both the nation and the state.
The CDF further praised tribal elders and community leaders for their part in fostering harmony, reinforcing social bonds, and shaping constructive public dialogue across the province. He called for a comprehensive pushback against hostile propaganda, urging leaders to challenge false narratives and highlight the genuine progress and ambitions of Balochistan’s people.
Munir maintained that the province’s future ultimately lies in the hands of its own residents. In response, the attending notables reaffirmed their support for peace and development, pledging solidarity with the state and armed forces against externally driven threats to stability.
Provincial leaders present at the gathering also voiced strong commitment to development centered on the needs of local communities, aiming for a Balochistan defined by peace, stability and shared prosperity.
