ISLAMABAD: The federal government has agreed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s demand and committed to paying Rs37 billion within a year.
The longstanding dispute over Net Hydel Profit dues has been resolved after two years, with the federal government now set to allocate Rs3 billion monthly, up from Rs1.5 billion previously.
Negotiations between KP’s Finance Advisor, Muzammil Aslam, and federal Energy and Finance secretaries played a pivotal role, with the Council of Common Interests also contributing to the resolution.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur emphasized his government’s stance on protecting provincial rights during the Special Investment Facilitation Council meeting, urging prompt settlement of funds owed to the province.
