Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has decisively rejected any extension to his term. Addressing speculation, the Chief Justice stated, “If they offer an extension, I will not take it.”
When asked about Rana Sanaullah, Justice Isa responded, “Bring Rana Sanaullah in front of me.” He made it clear that he had neither met nor spoken to Rana Sanaullah.
Justice Isa also discussed a past conversation with Azam Nazeer Tarar. During this discussion, which included Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and the Attorney General, the possibility of an extension for the Chief Justice was raised. Justice Isa firmly declined the suggestion.
He mentioned, “If others want an extension in their service, they can take it, but I will not accept it.” Justice Isa added, “I don’t even know if I will be alive tomorrow.”
Regarding the delay in scheduling the case related to the six judges’ letter, Chief Justice Isa said, “The committee is responsible for scheduling the case regarding the six judges’ letter.” He explained that the formation of the bench was delayed due to Justice Musarrat Hilali’s health issues, which led to her absence from the court.
Additionally, Chief Justice Isa revealed that the law minister had mentioned that extensions were being granted to other Chief Justices. Despite this, Justice Isa remains resolute in his decision not to accept any extension.
