The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has strongly denied recent allegations published by The Guardian. The claims, which attributed controversial remarks to a Chinese diplomat, were labeled as “completely untrue” by the embassy.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy criticized the article, calling it baseless and lacking in credibility. They accused the author of fabricating the information without conducting an authorized interview. This, according to the spokesperson, was a serious breach of journalistic ethics.
The embassy reaffirmed China’s unwavering commitment to the development of Gwadar and Balochistan. It highlighted several significant contributions made over the past year:
- In March, China provided $100,000 in emergency cash for disaster relief in Balochistan.
- In May, 10,000 solar lighting sets were delivered to the province.
- In June, the Gwadar China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital and a desalination plant were inaugurated.
- In July, a media delegation from Balochistan visited China.
- In August, 20,000 health kits were distributed across the province.
- In October, the Gwadar International Airport was completed successfully.
- In November, delegations from Gwadar traveled to China.
- In December, outstanding Pakistani staff working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects were recognized for their contributions.
Looking ahead, the Chinese Embassy announced more initiatives. These include scholarship programs for students from Balochistan University, Sardar Bahadur Khan University, and Gwadar University.
Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s dedication to transforming CPEC into a model project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The spokesperson emphasized that China remains focused on supporting Gwadar and Balochistan’s development. They expressed hope that these livelihood projects and collaborative efforts will continue to benefit local communities.
