PESHAWAR: A delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) convened with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur at the CM Secretariat.
The meeting, attended by Additional Chief Secretary Planning, Administrative Secretaries of relevant departments, and other officials, focused on ongoing major development projects across various sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in partnership with the ADB.
Discussions primarily centered on the progress of development projects in road infrastructure, water, agriculture, energy, urban development, and health sectors, all supported by the ADB. Plans for upcoming projects over the next three years were deliberated, with a strong emphasis on expediting implementation pending completion of necessary prerequisites.
The ADB delegation expressed readiness to accelerate fund disbursements ahead of schedule for projects such as KP Sustainable Urban Mobility, KP Rural Roads Development, KP Cities Improvement Project, and KP Food Security and Livestock Management Program.
Chief Minister Gandapur urged swift completion of preparatory measures by concerned authorities. The meeting also reviewed proposed projects for KP under the upcoming five-year Country Partnership Strategy 2026-2030, with a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in social sectors.
Gandapur acknowledged ADB’s crucial role in KP’s social sector development, highlighting the provincial government’s significant investments in agriculture, livestock, tourism, minerals, hydropower, and housing. He emphasized the government’s dedication to creating self-employment opportunities and enhancing infrastructure development in merged districts.
Regarding food security, Gandapur emphasized prioritizing small dam projects, including CRBC, stressing collaboration with partner institutions to ensure timely implementation. He underscored government efforts to streamline project timelines and enhance electricity supply to local industries via dedicated transmission lines, welcoming private sector investment under an Ease of Doing Business Policy.
