PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Friday firmly denied any deal with the federal government regarding the proposed KP Mines and Minerals Bill 2025, The News reported.
He slammed the claims made by federal ministers, calling them false and defamatory. Gandapur stated he had served a legal notice to Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik and a private TV channel. He is demanding Rs1 billion in damages and a public apology over the accusations linked to the KP Mines and Minerals Bill 2025.
The chief minister questioned how an agreement could be signed on an issue that the KP Assembly had not even approved yet. He made it clear that no settlement or understanding had taken place regarding the KP Mines and Minerals Bill 2025.
Advocate Ali Azim Afridi issued the legal notice on Gandapur’s behalf. The notice mentions that during a recent television program, the federal minister wrongly alleged that Gandapur had signed an agreement concerning the proposed mining law.
The chief minister’s legal team rejected the allegations, branding them “baseless, malicious, and politically motivated.” They insisted that no such deal or arrangement existed related to the KP Mines and Minerals Bill 2025.
The notice also stated that these claims were made without evidence. It said they harmed the chief minister’s reputation and his political image. It warned that legal action would be taken if the demands — compensation and a public retraction — were not fulfilled within 15 days.
The controversy surrounding the KP Mines and Minerals Bill 2025 has now taken a legal turn, with strong denials and firm warnings from the KP government’s side.
