LAHORE: Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur Friday expressed full confidence on Sarfraz Ahmad as team captain and said that all the rumours surrounding the captaincy have now been thrown in the bin.
He was addressing a press conference here. Commenting on retaining Ahmed as captain, he said that he was completely on board with the move. He said that Sarfaraz Ahmed had performed well as a batsman for the team. He said that there was good coordination among chief selector, captain and him. He said that they have complete plan for the upcoming world cup. He said that the Pakistan Super League may well bring new talent to the fore for the world cup.
He conceded that although the green shirts were unable to yield great results against the South African cricket team in the recent One-Day International and T20 series, they had tried hard.
“It is disappointing that Pakistan could not win the One-Day International (ODI) series, but the team’s spirit against the South African team is commendable,” Arthur said.
In the T20 series, the players did fight but it is unfortunate that they lost the series, he added.
To a question about his future plan after world cup, Arthur also showed willingness to coach the Pakistan team even after the upcoming World Cup, but he said that the PCB has to take decision in this regard.
