ISLAMABAD: A high-level consultative meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair is underway in Islamabad to take stock of the prevailing situation in the country after operation against sit-in protesters in Islamabad.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Naveed Mukhtar, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, other ministers and senior officials are also attending the meeting.
During the meeting, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal briefed the participants on operation against protesters.
The meeting is reviewing different options to end sit-in protest in the light of Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.
The participants also discussed requisition of armed forces in aid of the civil power under Article 245 of the Constitution.
