CPEC Second Phase Prioritises Gwadar Development, Industrial Growth, and Regional Connectivity

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced that the CPEC second phase now centres on industrial collaboration, agriculture, information technology, and social development. He stressed that special attention is being given to the advancement of Gwadar and the construction of new economic zones.

The announcement came during a meeting in Islamabad with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and senior delegations from both countries also participated in the session.

Ahsan Iqbal stated that the first stage of the CPEC second phase had been successfully completed. He highlighted that the next chapter focuses on deeper cooperation in priority sectors. Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed that China-Pakistan partnership will continue to strengthen in the coming years.

The minister noted that crucial decisions are expected at the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting. He added that connecting the CPEC second phase with Central Asia will enhance regional trade and promote economic stability.

He assured that firm measures have been taken to boost the security of all CPEC-related projects. According to him, safety remains a top priority to ensure smooth progress and investor confidence.

Ahsan Iqbal also underlined the untapped potential of the mineral sector around Gwadar. He said modern infrastructure under the CPEC second phase will enable Pakistan to harness these resources effectively and strengthen its economy.
