A terror recruitment network targeting Punjab’s youth has been exposed and dismantled by law enforcement agencies. The campaign, organized by the group Fitnah Al-Khawarij, aimed to recruit young individuals from the province.
Media reports confirmed that six facilitators of the terror group were arrested following intelligence-based operations and cyber patrolling. The arrested individuals, aged between 16 and 23, were allegedly involved in facilitating the network’s activities.
Authorities revealed that these youth were recruited from several major cities in Punjab. The cities included Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Jhelum, and Sargodha. Their primary role was to act as local facilitators for the network’s operations.
The cybercrime division played a crucial role in the crackdown. Officials intensified their online monitoring efforts, identifying algorithms and techniques used by the network to recruit individuals. This focused approach allowed authorities to uncover the group’s methods and disrupt their activities.
Details of the terror recruitment campaign and the arrests have been forwarded to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The Chief Minister has been briefed on the case for further action.
Authorities have also announced increased vigilance to monitor anti-state elements online. They emphasized that the success of this operation demonstrates their ability to quickly identify and dismantle such networks in the future.
This breakthrough highlights the growing threat of online terror recruitment and the critical need for enhanced cyber patrolling to counter these activities.
