Quetta: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Balochistan has killed 10 militants during a security operation in the province, while 10 CTD personnel were injured, officials said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, DIG CTD Shahdand said the operation was carried out against militants linked to proscribed organisations. He added that law enforcement agencies made efforts to persuade the suspects to surrender, but action was taken when they refused.
During the operation, CTD recovered rocket launchers, sub-machine guns (SMGs), and explosive material from the militants. The DIG noted that the possession of such advanced weaponry by terrorists raises serious concerns.
According to CTD officials, at least 13 cases have been registered against the militants in Pishin alone, indicating their involvement in multiple terror-related activities.
DIG Shahdand said that no leniency would be shown to facilitators of terrorism, urging militants to lay down arms and join the national mainstream. He warned that anyone who challenges the writ of the state will be dealt with firmly.
