Death Toll Rises 71 in Israel Overnight Airstrikes in Southern Gaza

GAZA: In the southern Gaza Strip, the death toll from Israel’s overnight air raids has reached 71, with a significant number being women and children, as reported by Al Jazeera Arabic. The airstrikes targeted homes in Rafah and Khan Younis, leaving hundreds wounded. A video from Al Jazeera Arabic depicts medical aid workers transporting victims to a hospital.

The Israeli military conducted over 200 strikes overnight, focusing on Hamas throughout Gaza, according to a separate statement. Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades mentioned holding around 250 captives in Gaza and expressed readiness to release those with foreign nationalities when circumstances permit.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning, stating that the besieged Gaza Strip has only “24 hours of water, electricity, and fuel left.”

Despite efforts, the UN Security Council failed to reach a consensus on a Gaza ceasefire. The opposition, led by the U.S., cited concerns of insufficient criticism of Hamas in the proposed resolution.
