Addressing media personnel on Friday, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry declared that the Pakistan Army stands firm in its mission to eliminate terrorism and protect national sovereignty. Reiterating the statement “DG ISPR Warns Political-Terror Nexus Behind Violence in KP,” he dismissed what he described as a “false and fabricated narrative” being propagated against Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations, calling it the work of a criminal political nexus responsible for chaos in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif emphasised that the Pakistan Armed Forces are performing internal security duties in strict accordance with the Constitution and the law. He warned that no one—regardless of status or influence—would be allowed to shelter or facilitate terrorists. Referring to the Doha Agreement, the DG ISPR reminded the world that Afghan soil was not to be used against Pakistan, yet US-made weapons have been recovered from militants killed during operations in KP.
He attributed recent losses of soldiers and civilians to years of governance failures and said that politics or convenience must never be allowed to cost Pakistan more blood. He urged the people to unite behind the state in defeating the “foreign scourge,” stressing that the nation stands as a “steel wall” against terrorism and its facilitators. “We do not need to beg for security,” he said firmly, asserting that Pakistan’s martyrs are a source of national pride and their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
According to the ISPR, security forces have carried out over 14,535 operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far, while 40 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) are being conducted daily to dismantle militant networks. The DG ISPR stated that 272 soldiers and 140 police personnel have embraced martyrdom during these operations, with more than 516 total security personnel martyred in 2025 alone — the highest figure in the last decade.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif noted that following the 2014 Army Public School tragedy, Pakistan’s security forces adopted a comprehensive strategy to root out terrorism. However, under certain policies, terrorists and their facilitators were deliberately provided space, allowing governance and public welfare to deteriorate in KP. This, he said, was a burden now being carried by the people of the province.
The DG ISPR revealed that 917 terrorists, including 161 Afghans, have been eliminated in 2025 so far, while 135 Afghan militants were neutralised during infiltration attempts into Pakistan. Over the past two years, 30 suicide bombers of Afghan origin were also killed in operations. He said that investigations confirmed many of them had direct links to terror networks operating from Afghan territory.
He identified five key factors behind the persistence of terrorism: the lack of full implementation of the National Action Plan, politicisation of counterterrorism, India’s use of Afghan soil for proxy warfare against Pakistan, the provision of safe havens and weapons to militants in Afghanistan, and the growing “terror-crime nexus” facilitated by local and political elements.
Rejecting the false propaganda against Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif reiterated that the Pakistan Army’s resolve remains unshaken. “We will deny every terrorist, facilitator, and sympathiser any space in this country,” he said, reaffirming that “DG ISPR Warns Political-Terror Nexus Behind Violence in KP” is not just a statement — it is a warning to all enemies of Pakistan, within and beyond its borders.
