DI Khan Firing: 4 FBR Personnel, Policeman Martyred

Four Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) personnel and a police constable were martyred in separate attacks in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Tuesday. Another policeman was wounded. The DI Khan firing incidents came on a day of fresh violence across the province.

Armed Men Attack FBR Personnel Near Abhaya Bridge

District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed said unidentified armed men opened fire on the FBR personnel near Abhaya Bridge. The bodies of the slain officials were later taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Police Van Targeted on Bannu Road

In a separate incident, gunmen fired on a police van near Bannu Road, martyring one constable and injuring another. Police launched a search operation in the area following the attack.

Five Militants Killed in North Waziristan

Earlier on Tuesday, security sources said that five terrorists, described as India-backed, were killed and two others wounded during an operation against militant hideouts in North Waziristan district of KP.

Militant Attacks in Pakistan Hit a 12-Year Monthly High

The latest violence adds to a wider surge in attacks, especially in KP and Balochistan. Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in cross-border terrorist incidents since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.

September 2026 saw the highest number of militant attacks in a single month in 12 years. Data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based independent think tank that tracks anti-state violence, recorded 225 attacks nationwide in September, up from 199 in August, an increase of 13%.

It was the third consecutive month in which militant attacks rose.
