The National Logistics Cell (NLC) and DP World have launched a direct shipping service connecting Pakistan and Bangladesh. This initiative marks a major step forward in South Asia’s maritime trade connectivity.
Since the service began in October, over 1,000 containers have been moved between the two countries. This success has opened a new trade corridor, strengthening ties and enhancing regional connectivity in South Asia.
Expanding its maritime operations, NLC will begin container services between Karachi and Jebel Ali on January 13. Another vessel will join the network by the end of January. This expansion will broaden the shipping network’s reach and efficiency.
The joint venture plans to launch an edible oil shipping service in February 2025. This addition will diversify cargo options and cater to the growing needs of regional trade. It also shows the venture’s commitment to meeting varied commercial demands.
Experts believe this direct shipping service will lower transportation costs and save time for businesses. It is expected to boost trade volumes and economic partnerships in the region.
These new maritime routes align with South Asia’s broader economic goals. They aim to promote integration and simplify trade across the region. Officials have confirmed that the service will evolve based on market trends and trade patterns.
