Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised Donald Trump peace efforts for successfully bringing Azerbaijan and Armenia to the negotiating table. The landmark peace deal, signed at the White House Summit under his patronage, marks the end of decades of conflict in the South Caucasus.
The Prime Minister called the agreement a “new era of peace, stability, and cooperation” for the war-affected region. He congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan, describing the accord as a result of wisdom and vision.
“Pakistan has always stood with our brotherly nation of Azerbaijan,” Shehbaz stated. “On this historic occasion, we reaffirm our unwavering support for them.” He added that Islamabad fully backs Baku in its mission to achieve lasting stability.
Shehbaz Sharif particularly commended Donald Trump peace efforts in making this breakthrough possible. He acknowledged the former US President’s role in overcoming years of mistrust, violence, and diplomatic deadlock between the two neighbours over Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the Prime Minister, the White House-led diplomacy has unlocked fresh opportunities for trade, regional connectivity, and integration. “This achievement shows the power of dialogue and persistent mediation,” he said.
He expressed hope that the approach demonstrated in the South Caucasus would inspire similar efforts in other conflict zones around the world. Shehbaz noted that the Donald Trump peace efforts not only benefited Azerbaijan and Armenia but also served as a powerful example of how committed negotiation can turn long-standing disputes into paths for progress.
The Prime Minister stressed that this milestone is a diplomatic triumph for the region. He said Pakistan values the spirit of cooperation that Donald Trump peace efforts have brought to the international stage. For Islamabad, the accord stands as proof that determined global leadership can transform even the most entrenched rivalries into lasting partnerships.
