DSP Usman Haider remand extension in wife and daughter murder case came on Thursday when a local court approved more time for police custody. Investigators produced the accused before Cantt Katchery Judicial Magistrate Ali Akbar after completion of the initial remand period. The court reviewed the case record and heard arguments from both sides. DSP Usman Haider remand extension in wife and daughter murder case dominated the proceedings from the start.
Complainant’s counsel Nasir Kamboh told the court that investigators still needed to recover the murder weapon. He stressed that the pistol remained missing and held key value for the case. Investigating Officer Inspector Alam supported the request and said police required further interrogation to complete recoveries and verify facts. The magistrate accepted the request and granted a three day extension in physical remand.
Police still have not registered a formal murder case against DSP Usman Haider. Senior officers continue internal consultations on applying Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Even after several days, police and prosecutors have failed to reach a clear decision. On Wednesday, police presented the female complainant before the prosecutor general, but two government prosecutors also avoided a final call. Police have not received a written application for case registration from the complainant side either.
The complainant accused police of unnecessary delays. Family members claimed that officers summoned them repeatedly to senior offices without explaining future legal steps. The situation added frustration and confusion for the affected family.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza assigned the probe to SP Investigation Model Town Dr Ayaz earlier this week. Dr Ayaz formed a special investigation team under his supervision. The team traced the crime after reviewing technical data and movement patterns.
Investigators say DSP Usman Haider killed his wife and daughter inside his own car on Ring Road. His wife sat in the front passenger seat while the daughter occupied the rear seat. After the killings, the accused buried his wife’s body and later concealed the daughter’s body in the Mela Ram area of Kahna. Investigators traced the murders back to September 25.
Police sources say the accused cleaned the vehicle thoroughly to erase evidence. During questioning, he cited financial pressure and repeated demands for property purchases. He blamed family expenses and sibling marriages for worsening disputes. Investigators say anger pushed him toward the crime. Afterward, he misled police for weeks and registered a fake kidnapping case to divert attention. Police recovered the vehicle and secured blood samples and other critical evidence.
