Lahore: The district court in Lahore has summoned YouTuber Saad Ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, along with other accused, in a case concerning the promotion of gambling. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 16, during which formal charges are expected to be framed.
During the proceedings, the court handed over copies of the challan to the accused and remarked that vlogging without prior permission is illegal. The court emphasized that any approval in an ongoing case can only be granted by the judiciary.
Ducky Bhai’s lawyer argued that it was unclear which permission was required and claimed that his client had not been actively vlogging on the channel. The court rejected this defense, stating that previous affidavits cannot be considered valid authorization, asking, “How can a person grant themselves permission?”
Significantly, the court declared Saad Ur Rehman’s YouTube channel as “property of the case”, warning that uploading videos from it would be illegal. The court clarified that while the accused may continue vlogging, they cannot post content on this particular channel.
The prosecution also voiced concerns regarding the vlogging activities. The court adjourned the case until January 16, when the accused are expected to face formal charges.
