Govt, opposition committee fails to select chief election commissioner

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to submit reply in foreign funding case today.
A four-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan conducted hearing of the case and then adjourned it until 6 March.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawyer advocate Faisal Chaudhry appeared before ECP while PML-N’s lawyer Jahangir Jadoon failed to attend the hearing.
Commission member Irshad Qaiser inquired about PML-N’s reply in the case.
PTI lawyer replied that the reply submitted previously is not correct.
He argued that verbal statement is not enough therefore PML-N should submit a written reply.
PML-N’s junior lawyer requested the court to adjourn the hearing responding to which the court ordered him to submit reply in the case today and suspended the proceedings.
