ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) will participate in the February 8 election under the symbol of a lantern, as declared by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The ECP, which had reserved its decision on December 21 regarding the ANP’s intra-party election, announced the allocation of the lantern symbol for the upcoming general elections.
In addition to assigning the election symbol, the commission levied a fine of Rs20,000 on the ANP for its failure to conduct the intra-party polls. The party has been granted a deadline until May 10 to fulfill the requirement of holding these internal elections.
