The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to take action against private news channels – “Dawn News,” “ARY News,” “Geo News,” and “GNN” – for violating the code of conduct by broadcasting a live interview with a politician on Thursday.
The ECP contends that this act breaches Section 182 of the Elections Act 2017 and the Commission’s Code of Conduct for National Media.

Expressing concerns, the ECP instructed PEMRA to address these violations, including halting broadcast and initiating proceedings under Section 10 of the Elections Act, 2017.
