PARACHINAR: At least eight teachers of government schools were shot dead two attacks in Upper Kurram district on Thursday.
According to local police, some unknown armed men opened firing at a vehicle on Sholazan road in Parachinar, in which a teacher was killed. Later on, some armed men entered into staff room of Tari Mengal High School and killed seven teachers. The dead bodies of the teachers were shifted to Parachinar hospital.
Police said that all roads in the district have been closed for traffic after two tragic incidents. The district administration has declared emergency in all hospitals. The matric examination was also postponed due to these incidents. The districts administration and top officials of the security forces were in contact with the elders of area to maintain peace and security in the district.
Meanwhile, the federal minister Sajjid Turi has strongly condemned the killing of the teachers and demanded strict actions against the culprits.
