Eight Terrorists Killed in Balochistan During Security Forces Operations in Kharan, Mastung

Eight terrorists killed in Balochistan

Security forces killed eight terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Mastung districts, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations took place on June 25 and 26 as part of the country’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign.

In the first operation, security forces acted on intelligence reports about the movement of a group of terrorists in Kharan district on June 25. During the operation, troops carried out a precise engagement, killing three terrorists, while several others were injured.

A day later, security forces launched a pre-emptive intelligence-based operation in Mastung district after receiving information about the possible presence of a suicide bomber.

ISPR said troops effectively engaged the militants during the operation. After an intense exchange of fire, five terrorists, including a suicide bomber, were killed.

Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and motorcycles used by the militants.

A sanitisation operation is underway in the area to clear any remaining militants, the statement added.

The military said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative to eliminate militancy and ensure lasting peace in the country.
