The Election Commission has issued a comprehensive code of conduct for the armed forces ahead of the upcoming elections on February 8.
Under Article 245, the armed forces will assist the ECP, focusing on maintaining peace and security. The police will handle primary security responsibilities, while the armed forces and civil armed forces will manage secondary and tertiary levels.
Deployment outside highly sensitive polling stations is specified.
The armed forces will play a role in ballot paper printing security, delivery to DRO offices, and transporting electoral material to RO offices after vote counting.
Emphasizing an unbiased stance, the armed forces will collaborate with police, identify suspicious individuals, and maintain a peaceful environment without supporting or opposing any political party.
Procedures for handling mismanagement, restricting weapons in polling stations, and non-interference with electoral staff responsibilities are outlined.
Quick response force deployment is scheduled from February 5 to February 10 outside sensitive polling stations to ensure transparent and peaceful elections, as approved by the federal cabinet.
