ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an increase in electricity tariffs under the December fuel price adjustment, adding further pressure on consumers.
According to an official notification, the power tariff has been raised by 28 paisas per unit. The increase will be reflected in electricity bills for February and will apply to consumers across the country, including K-Electric users.
However, lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations have been exempted from the hike and will not bear the additional cost.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency had requested a 48 paisa per unit increase in electricity prices under the monthly fuel adjustment for December. After reviewing the request, Nepra approved a lower increase of 28 paisas per unit and issued a formal notification.
The latest adjustment comes amid continued concerns over rising utility costs and their impact on household budgets.
