GILGIT: Former chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed, the f, has faced a lifelong disqualification from from heading the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) GB chapter.
This decision comes after the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court disqualified Khursheed in a fake degree case on July 4.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) GB, in a verdict released on Thursday, upheld the disqualification, following a petition filed by GB Assembly member Shahzad Agha.
Agha argued that Khursheed’s claimed law degree from London was fake and invoked Articles 62 and 63 for his disqualification.
Despite being a close associate of PTI founder Imran Khan, Khursheed’s credentials could not be verified, leading to this significant ruling.
