Pakistan is gearing up for the announcement of revised petrol and diesel prices for the upcoming fortnight, set to be effective from December 16th to January 1st.
The government is expected to reveal the adjusted prices on Friday, December 15, with the changes taking effect after midnight on Saturday, December 16.
As of December 1, the current petrol price nationwide stands at Rs281.34 per liter. In the previous review, the government maintained the petrol price, while high-speed diesel (HSD) experienced a Rs7 reduction, resulting in the current rate of Rs289.71, down from Rs296.71 before December 1.
Recent reports from credible sources suggest a potential reduction in petrol and diesel prices, with speculations indicating a decrease of up to Rs15 per liter.
If accurate, this could bring relief to the inflation-affected population, lowering the petrol price to Rs268.34 per liter and potentially reducing the diesel price to Rs274.71 per liter.
It’s crucial to note that these reports are speculative, and the final decision on any price adjustments will be officially disclosed by the government through the Ministry of Finance or Petroleum Division shortly before Saturday, December 16, or after 11 pm on Friday, December 15.
