Facebook Services Disrupted Worldwide, Users Face Access Issues

Facebook Web Services Down Worldwide, Users Report Browser Issues

ISLAMABAD: Facebook users across the world faced disruption as the platform’s web version stopped working properly on desktop browsers, causing widespread concern among users.

According to user reports, Facebook.com failed to load or showed error messages on popular web browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Windows-based browsers. Many users complained that they were unable to access Facebook through desktop browsers, particularly on Windows computers.

Users took to X (formerly Twitter) to report that while Facebook’s web version was inaccessible, the mobile app continued to function normally. Similarly, users on Apple Mac computers (macOS) reported no major issues with accessing Facebook via web browsers.

Several users said they encountered error messages such as “Something went wrong” or blank pages when trying to open Facebook through a browser. Reports from multiple countries indicated that both Facebook and Instagram were affected at the same time, suggesting a global technical issue rather than a local outage.

Interestingly, the problem appears to be limited to browser-based access, as users were still able to browse feeds, send messages, and use other features through mobile applications. The service also remained stable on Apple’s macOS, pointing to a possible Windows browser compatibility or server-side issue.

Data from Downdetector showed a sharp spike in outage reports related to Facebook, confirming that a large number of users were experiencing difficulties accessing the platform via browsers.

Until an official fix is released, users are being advised to use the mobile app or clear browser cache and cookies before trying again.

Meta has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the disruption.
