A video circulating on social media platforms shows that Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur advised party founding chairman Imran Khan to apologize for past mistakes.
On August 11, a 55-second clip was shared on the platform X (formerly Twitter), attributing statements to Gandapur, such as “It was my mistake, I went to the Corps Commander’s House in Peshawar and apologized” and suggesting Imran Khan to admit his own mistakes.
The video was widely shared, with the post being viewed around 88,000 times, reposted over 2,000 times, and liked more than 8,000 times.
However, the fact behind the video has emerged. The clips circulating on social media were edited and falsely shows Ali Amin Gandapur demanding an apology from Imran Khan and accusing PTI leaders of terrorism.
A review of Gandapur’s full 19-minute press talk on August 3 outside Rawalpindi Central Jail revealed that he never made such statements. When asked if his party would apologize to the people for the May 9 riots, he said that if he was found guilty, he would.
His exact words were that I had said very clearly that ok I am ready to apologize but first my mistake should be proved but if it is not my fault and someone else’s fault then who should apologize to me? will ask. The original video clip of which was this.
The words attributed to Gandapur were taken out of context and edited to create a misleading narrative.
