Faiz Hamid’s Expected Testimony Deepens PTI Founder’s Troubles

Faiz Hamid’s Expected Testimony Deepens PTI Founder’s Troubles

The story around Faiz Hamid’s Expected Testimony Deepens PTI Founder’s Troubles took another sharp turn on Thursday, and it’s starting to look even more intense than before. Senator Faisal Vawda said that the court-martialled former ISI chief Lt Gen retired Faiz Hamid is ready to testify against PTI founder Imran Khan, and honestly, it sounds like things might get rougher. He repeated that Hamid’s testimony could put Khan in deeper legal trouble, and this angle has already stirred quite a bit of noise.

Vawda, who was once part of PTI himself, spoke on Geo News and claimed that Faiz Hamid not only plans to testify but will also bring evidence against the jailed former prime minister. The timing of all this is pretty striking because earlier today the Field General Court Martial handed Hamid a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence. ISPR said the sentence was linked to four charges, including political involvement and violating the Official Secrets Act.

According to Vawda, all this puts the PTI founder right in the middle of what he called a tightening legal squeeze, especially due to the May 9 cases. He warned that what has started now is only going to ramp up, not slow down. Those May 9 events, as everyone remembers, erupted after Imran Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court in 2023. The riots didn’t just stop at protests. Miscreants went after both civil and military sites, even the Corps Commander House in Lahore and GHQ in Rawalpindi.

Vawda didn’t stop there. He said the punishment given to Hamid will not be softened, and that the “grip of the law” is only moving forward. He went on to allege that Faiz Hamid was responsible for giving out details of military installations before the May 9 situation unfolded. In his view, once everything becomes clear, the first name to face consequences will be the PTI founder.

He also mentioned former army chief Gen retired Qamar Javed Bajwa, saying Bajwa showed negligence and incompetence at one point but later tried to get rid of Hamid after understanding what the situation really meant. Even then, Vawda said Bajwa has been considered exonerated, so nothing will happen to him now.

During the same show, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif presented an even stronger version of the story. He said the May 9 events were not random but a joint plan involving the PTI founder and the former ISI chief. According to him, the whole purpose was to overturn the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir. He added that Imran Khan could not have carried out the May 9 violence alone and that Hamid still had influence even after he retired. Asif also hinted that more cases could come against Hamid.

The minister argued that the civilian authority to appoint the army chief has never been questioned like this in the past, but claimed that Bajwa used pressure and even threats to block Munir’s appointment. He said Bajwa first pushed for Hamid to be made the army chief, then tried to adjust the process by floating other names. All these claims continue to keep the debate heated and, honestly, things don’t seem to be calming anytime soon.
