ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday warned Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and three federal ministers of contempt of court notices if the Raja Zafarul Haq committee report was not presented in the next hearing pertaining to Faizabad sit-in case.
During today’s proceedings, Deputy Attorney General Arshad Kiyani informed the court that the report was not yet finalized due to which it was not presented before the court.
The Islamabad High Court chief justice Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked as to how was it possible even after the signature of Raja Zafarul Haq on the report.
The Zafarul Haq-led committee was formed to probe the issue of the amendment in the oath regarding the Finality of Prophethood in the Elections Act 2017 that was passed last year.
The amendment was later reversed by the government.
A religious party protested against the amendment blocking Faizabad Interchange; however, it ended its protest after an agreement was reached with the government which included the resignation of Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
