The federal government has officially rejected a viral notification circulating on social media that falsely claimed the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). The government confirmed this notification is fake, warning users not to share misinformation online.
Officials stated clearly that no such notification has been issued, adding that the document circulating on digital platforms is fabricated. The clarification comes at a time when political discussions are trending regarding the formation of the CDF, especially after the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Actual CDF Notification Coming Soon
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar addressed the issue and explained that the formal notification for the new Chief of Defence Forces will be issued soon. He linked the ongoing delay to official procedures rather than any form of political or institutional instability.
Speaking to reporters, the minister clarified the process. He stated the prime minister is currently abroad, and final approvals will take place upon his return. Tarar added that paperwork may already be complete and the Ministry of Defence will move ahead after coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office.
The clarification follows widespread speculation because November 29 was the expected date for the announcement. The government has advised citizens to rely on verified updates rather than social media rumours.
