ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician Farhatullah Babar has officially resigned from his position as the secretary general of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Reports suggest that he has conveyed this decision to Asif Ali Zardari, the former President of Pakistan and co-chairman of PPP.
Despite stepping down from his party role, Mr. Babar will continue to fulfill the role of the president of the human rights cell within PPP. The decision comes to light after a call from PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto, made during a convention in Chitral, urging senior leaders to relinquish their positions.
In a recent development earlier this month, senior leader Dr. Farhatullah Babar took to Twitter to address a fake account circulating false claims under his name.
The fabricated tweets falsely indicated that Dr. Farhatullah had joined another political party. Dr. Babar expressed profound disappointment and condemned this deceitful act, clarifying that the impersonation was baseless and untrue.
In his tweet, he stated, “I am saddened and strongly condemn this vile and nefarious act. If someone has a good understanding, he should take this idea out of his heart for his own good.
