LAHORE: The scheduled hearing addressing the plea against the detention of the well-known fashion designer, Khadija Shah, has been postponed until November 30. Justice Ali Baqir Najfi presided over the proceedings at the Lahore High Court on Monday.
In the course of the hearing, the government’s legal representative appeared before the court, revealing that the Additional Home Secretary had made a decision on the appeal. The lawyer also mentioned that a report on this decision has been dispatched to the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi.
Upon questioning the necessity of sending the report to the Punjab Chief Minister, Justice Ali Baqir Najfi was informed by the public prosecutor that it is standard procedure to inform the government following the notification of detention. The report is slated for review during the upcoming cabinet meeting.
In light of these developments, the court instructed the public prosecutor to expedite the resolution of the matter. Consequently, the hearing on the petition has been adjourned, and it is now rescheduled for November 30.
