Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has broken his silence on the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy that claimed at least 26 lives. The actor took to Instagram to share his grief and prayers for the victims.
“Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam,” wrote Fawad Khan. He added that his thoughts are with the victims and their families. He called the incident horrifying and offered prayers for healing and strength to the affected.
The attack occurred on Tuesday around 2:30 PM in Baisaran valley, located in Jammu and Kashmir. Gunmen opened fire on tourists, including foreign nationals. It is now being described as one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years. Among the dead were two foreign nationals.
As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to rise after the incident, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has acted swiftly. The organization has once again enforced a ban on Pakistani artists, including Fawad Khan. His upcoming film Abir Gulaal, which was set to release on May 9, has now been suspended in India.
The FWICE represents workers across the Indian entertainment industry. Following the Pahalgam incident, the group drew comparisons to the 2019 Pulwama attack, where 40 Indian soldiers lost their lives. In a press statement, the FWICE blamed the Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), for the recent violence.
Reiterating its 2019 directive, FWICE announced a strict continuation of its artist ban. The order applies to all Pakistani talent—actors, musicians, and technicians. Because of this policy, the release of Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor, will not go ahead as planned in India.
The FWICE stated that they would do everything possible to stop the movie from reaching Indian cinemas. They stressed that anyone from the Indian film industry found collaborating with Pakistani personnel will face consequences. That includes directors, production teams, and technicians. The message was clear: no tolerance for ties with Pakistani artists during this tense period.
So far, Fawad Khan’s team has not issued any official statement on the fate of Abir Gulaal. However, the actor’s emotional post highlights his personal sorrow and his commitment to peace. The film star ended his message by standing in solidarity with the victims’ families, hoping for healing during this tragic time.
As the ban continues, the future of Pakistani artists like Fawad Khan in Indian cinema remains uncertain.
