ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a federal cabinet meeting to address the current political climate and review proposals from various government departments.
The meeting is set for Tuesday at 11 a.m.
The agenda will focus on a comprehensive evaluation of the country’s political situation, with particular attention to maintaining law and order. The cabinet will also consider the prevailing economic challenges, discussing strategies to strengthen the economy in these uncertain times.
This meeting is especially significant given the complex political and economic circumstances the government is currently navigating.
In the previous cabinet meeting, the federal cabinet approved the creation of the Prime Minister’s Skills Development Company, which will oversee technical and vocational training programs.
The approval was granted during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade to promote cooperation in e-commerce.
The cabinet also approved the transfer of operations of the King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences to the National University of Medical Sciences, following a recommendation from the Ministry of National Health Services.
During the meeting, the cabinet was briefed on the recent Supreme Court verdict in the Mubarak Sani case. The federal government, under the prime minister’s directives and after a thorough discussion in the National Assembly, has filed a petition with the Supreme Court. The Attorney General of Pakistan is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on Thursday to present arguments based on the views of religious scholars and the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice.
