Female bomber arrested before planned suicide attack in Islamabad, says Sarfaraz Bugti

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said security forces prevented a major tragedy by arresting a female bomber before a planned suicide attack in Islamabad.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta on Monday, Bugti said terrorists had forced and prepared the woman for an attack targeting the federal capital. He added that intelligence agencies acted in time and successfully stopped the plan.

According to the chief minister, reports had earlier surfaced on social media about a missing woman. Security agencies traced the case and uncovered the terror plot before it could be carried out.

Bugti said terrorist groups are now using new methods to exploit women. He claimed they use honey traps, threats, and blackmail to force innocent women into violent activities. He described the condition of the suspected female bomber as disturbing and said she had been threatened with her father’s murder if she refused to carry out the attack.

The chief minister stressed that such actions have no link with Baloch traditions or culture. He strongly condemned the use of women as tools for terrorism and accused militant groups of working for foreign interests.

During the media briefing, Bugti claimed the arrested female bomber admitted she had been sent on a suicide mission in Islamabad. However, considering the pressure and blackmail involved, the government decided to return her to her family and give her a chance to rebuild her life.

He praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and security forces, saying their quick action saved the country from a major disaster.

Bugti also urged citizens to stay alert against terrorist propaganda and warned people not to fall for groups using the Baloch identity to spread fear and unrest.

“The state is fully prepared to defeat such dangerous plans,” he said.
