ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) unveiled Pakistan’s inaugural Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Hotline in a ceremony held in Islamabad on Thursday.
Developed in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), this groundbreaking initiative aims to establish a robust national referral mechanism.
A comprehensive management information system (MIS), ultimately ensures more efficient and coordinated services for victims of human trafficking under a unified system.
Shireen Malik Sher, Additional Director of FIA and the project’s focal person, played a key role in the successful completion of the project. Under the supervision of Israr Ahmed Khan, Director Anti-Human Smuggling Directorate of FIA.
The Australian High Commission provided funding for the initiative through the International Labour Organization (ILO). Showcasing international collaboration in addressing this pressing issue.
Shireen Malik Sher explained the main features of the project, emphasizing its prompt response mechanism.
She detailed that upon receiving a complaint through the hotline, the TIP facilitation center would efficiently forward the complaint. Against traffickers to the relevant police stations across Pakistan with a single click.
Trafficking victims would then be referred to the appropriate departments for welfare, ensuring a swift and coordinated approach.
Addressing the audience, DG FIA Mohsin Hassan Butt underscored the National TIP Hotline project’s significance for the National Referral Mechanism, marking a pivotal moment in the fight against human trafficking crimes.
He stressed that this initiative represented a substantial step toward a more coordinated, efficient, and harmonized approach to addressing trafficking in persons across the country.
This acknowledgment from international representatives further underscores the global importance of Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating human trafficking.

In concluding remarks, DG FIA Mohsin Hassan Butt expressed gratitude to the United Nations Office. On Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for its assistance to FIA.
He highlighted the longstanding and fruitful collaboration between FIA and UNODC. Noting that the National Action Plan to combat Trafficking. In Person and Smuggling of Migrants was formulated in collaboration with UNODC to establish. A comprehensive agenda for collective efforts.
