In two separate incidents targeting military installations in southeast Iran, suspected terrorists killed at least five Iranian security officers and injured 10 others, according to official media reports on Thursday.
The attacks occurred at Iranian Revolutionary Guard headquarters in Rask and Chabahar, located in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan, with militants from the Jaish al-Adl group being identified as the perpetrators.
Official sources from the IRNA news agency confirmed the casualties, which included two police officers, a security guard, a soldier, and volunteers from the Basij volunteer force.
Reports indicate that at least eight militants were neutralized during exchanges of gunfire with security forces.
Majid Mirahmadi, Iran’s deputy interior minister for security and police affairs, announced that the coordinated attacks were effectively halted by the swift response of law enforcement and security personnel.
Mirahmadi stated that the terrorists who targeted the IRGC headquarters in Chabahar were repelled, taking refuge in a nearby building, while those in Rask were surrounded and defeated by security forces.
He further mentioned the kidnapping of a Chabahar resident by the terrorists, with ongoing efforts underway to safely rescue the hostage.
This incident follows Iran’s previous retaliatory strikes in January, targeting alleged bases of the Baloch group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan. Iranian state media reported the destruction of these bases through missile and drone strikes, with the Revolutionary Guards purportedly conducting ballistic missile attacks along the Iran-Pakistan border against anti-Iran terrorist groups.
