Pakistan’s Foreign Office clarified on Thursday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was informed about the visit of foreign diplomats to Swat-Malam Jaba, citing documented evidence of a memo issued in this regard. This comes after a police van escorting diplomats was targeted by an improvised explosive device on Swat-Malam Jaba Road, leading to the death of a policeman and injuries to four others.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that the ministry is considering action against the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce for not informing the foreign ministry about the diplomats’ visit. She reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the security of foreign diplomats and reminded them to adhere to previously issued guidelines.
Baloch confirmed that security agencies are actively investigating the incident, and strict measures are being taken to address any negligence.
