ISLAMABAD: Former Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce and Industries, Gohar Ejaz, was elected Chairman of the Economic Policy and Business Development Think Tank.
United Business Group (UBG) Patron-in-Chief, S.M. Tanveer, presented the “Nishan-e-Amanat” to Ejaz in recognition of his new leadership role in the business community. Qurrat-ul-Ain, Vice President of FPCCI, was also present at the event.
In his address, Ejaz pledged to address and resolve the issues faced by the business community. He emphasized that expensive electricity is a major challenge for the industry, and without reducing its costs, neither the industry nor the country’s economy can function effectively.
S.M. Tanveer criticized the government for raising the cost of electricity for commercial use, stating that the industry cannot operate properly at the current rates. “Nobody wants to pursue a business due to the massive surge in power bills,” he said in a joint press conference with Gohar Ejaz. Tanveer asserted that increasing exports is essential for the country’s economic recovery. He expressed concerns over the lack of significant measures taken to address this issue, highlighting the business community’s reservations about the government’s approach.
