BANNU: At least four people were reportedly killed and several others injured in a firing and stampede during a Peace March in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thousands of people took to the streets to protest against terrorism in the district and the region.
According to reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister of Public Health, Pakhtoon Yar Khan, narrowly escaped a bullet during the incident. A rescue vehicle was also damaged.
The injured people were taken to the district headquarters hospital, where the conditions of some were stated to be critical.
The massive rally was staged by thousands of locals protesting against the recent wave of terrorism. The demonstrators observed a wheel jam strike, leading to the shutdown of all government offices as part of their protest against terrorism and the potential for a military operation in the area.
The protesters voice their concerns over the worsening law and order situation in the area, and demanded that the government take immediate measures to restore peace and security in the region.
