Four Pakistani security personnel, including a young lieutenant, embraced martyrdom during fierce encounters with militants backed by Indian-sponsored terrorism. These operations took place in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement released by the military’s media wing, ISPR, on Thursday. In total, twelve terrorists were eliminated.
The ISPR confirmed that an intelligence-based operation was carried out in Loralai district on May 28. The raid was based on the confirmed presence of militants identified as “Fitna al Hindustan terrorists”, a known group aligned with Indian-sponsored terrorism. The troops launched a precise attack on the terrorist hideout. After an intense gun battle, four terrorists linked to India were successfully neutralised.
Weapons, explosives, and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. The statement revealed that these same extremists were behind several brutal acts of terror, including deadly attacks on the N-70 highway near Rarasham on August 26, 2024, and February 18, 2025. These incidents claimed the lives of 30 innocent civilians.
The eliminated terrorists were high-value targets. They had been actively involved in Indian-sponsored terrorism and were on the radar of law enforcement agencies for a long time. Security forces had been tracking them with determination and finally cornered them in Loralai.
Another clash broke out in Kech District where one more militant tied to India-backed terrorism was killed during an engagement. The ISPR stressed that Pakistan’s forces remain fully committed to wiping out Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country. It also reaffirmed the resolve to punish all those aiding or executing terror attacks.
In a separate operation in KP, seven militants from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to by the military as “Fitna al Khwarij”, were gunned down in two different engagements.
One significant attack occurred on the night between May 28 and 29. Militants backed by Indian terrorism networks tried to storm a military check post in the Shawal area of North Waziristan. Troops fought back bravely. In the exchange of fire, six terrorists were eliminated.
However, Pakistan paid a heavy price. Lieutenant Daniyal Ismail, just 24 years old, embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front. Alongside him, three brave soldiers also laid down their lives. They were Naib Subedar Kashif Raza, aged 41, Lance Naik Fiaqat Ali, 35, and Sepoy Muhammad Hameed, 26.
In another successful operation in Chitral, troops eliminated one more terrorist affiliated with Indian-sponsored terrorism. These sacrifices by the armed forces highlight their bravery and deep commitment to peace, the ISPR said.
Pakistan has seen a disturbing rise in terrorist incidents since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. The border provinces, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, remain the epicenters of such violence. Most of these attacks stem from India-backed terrorism, the statement implied.
Despite the threat, there are signs of progress. Data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) shows that during the first quarter of 2025, the number of militant deaths surpassed the combined deaths of civilians and troops. There was also a 13% drop in overall violence compared to the last quarter of 2024.
Still, Balochistan and KP remain dangerously unstable. They account for 98% of all fatalities in recent months. Militants have grown bolder, using new tactics. One example was the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, something never seen before in the country.
Projections paint a grim picture. If current trends continue, Pakistan could suffer over 3,600 terror-related deaths by the end of the year. This would make 2025 one of the bloodiest years in the country’s fight against Indian-sponsored terrorism.
Balochistan alone suffered 35% of all deaths in the recent quarter. Violence in the province jumped by 15% compared to the last quarter. Other regions have not seen such spikes, mostly because their fatality numbers remain low.
Pakistan’s security forces, despite all challenges, continue their relentless efforts to root out terrorism. The nation stands behind its heroes, committed to defeating the enemies of peace.
