Islamabad: A powerful explosion caused by a gas leakage injured at least five people after it tore through a house in the Shams Colony area of the federal capital on Thursday.
According to police, the blast occurred within the limits of Shams Colony police station and was so intense that it caused one of the house’s walls to collapse, leaving the building badly damaged.
Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Authorities said further investigations are under way to determine the exact cause of the gas leak, while residents have been urged to take precautionary measures to avoid similar incidents.
