Gaza Peace Is Pakistan’s Mission, Ceasefire Violations Must End

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that achieving lasting peace in Gaza remains Pakistan’s clear mission, stressing that violations of the ceasefire must end immediately to ensure stability in the region.

Speaking at the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Board in Washington, chaired by US President Donald Trump, the prime minister said Pakistan strongly supports the establishment of a free and sovereign Palestinian state. He described it as both essential and a fundamental right of the Palestinian people.

The premier said it was an honour to participate in the inaugural session and expressed hope that collective efforts by the international community would help secure durable peace in Gaza. He added that the day could mark a historic step toward lasting stability in the Middle East.

Shehbaz Sharif urged the global community to implement UN Security Council resolutions and ensure that Palestinians receive their legitimate rights. He emphasized that an immediate halt to ceasefire violations would pave the way for regional peace.

Addressing the session, President Trump said the Gaza Peace Board has no substitute in terms of its importance and objectives. He also called for making the United Nations more effective and action-oriented.

The prime minister appreciated Trump’s diplomatic role in resolving conflicts, noting that timely engagement had helped reduce tensions between Pakistan and India and prevented a potential escalation in South Asia.
